Hangar9 P-51 Mustang 1.50

Even though there is not much in terms of aerobatics that you can do with a war bird, it is a very impressive sight to see one fly. This is my Hangar9 P-51 Mustang 1.50. This is the older version, Hangar9 has since upgraded this ARF - the new version has bigger wing span, and uses next generating retracts.

I have flow this bird maybe couple of dozen of times, and it flies just like a war bird - it has pretty bad tip stall tendencies when it gets too slow, though use of flaps greatly helps. You can land with or without flaps, but remember to keep your speed up if not using flaps.

Set Up

Engine - Saito 1.80

Prop - Mejzlik 18x6

Servos - Hitec HS645MG, JR 791 retract servos

Battery - 2000 mAh NiMH 4.8 x 2 with Batt share

Receiver - Futaba 9 channel synthesized

Bellow is a picture of the main gear - the first generation retracts used by Hangar9 are not very strong, and have a tendency to wobble side to side. Also, the struts bend easily, especially if landing on a grass field.

Saito 1.80 is a great fit, and the split cowl makes it an easy install
