Composite-Arf 35% Extra 330L

I've always wanted to have one of those - a 35% Composite-Arf - this one happens to be the Extra 330L.I bought it used (saved a bundle) - its is in pristine shape, and it is one of - it has been custom painted by previous owner with DuPont automotive paints. This will be something that will take time - I have very big plans for this plane, unfortunately my wallet is pretty empty lately - so it will be a while before this beauty sees the sky.... Bellow are some pictures of the plane as it is now...

For this plane I am going to spare no expense - everything is going to be top of the line - for power plant I am going to use newly released Desert Aircraft DA-120 - it is lighter than the DA-100L and has more power. With the 28x12 prop it will gain 500 to 600 rpm over the 100. I have not decided on the prop size - I may have to go with a 27x12 three blade prop for clearance - the Comp-Arf Extras are known for short landing gear.... I will have to see what it looks like when the engine is installed on the plane.

After over a year on the shelf my brand new DA-120 finally finds home - I fitted the engine to my CompArf - before doing so, I had to fill holes in the firewall left from previous engine.

After I make final adjustments to the engine mounts and fit the cowl, I will than build cooling baffles inside the cowling to help keep the engine cool, by directing air flow over the cylinder heads.

I finished fitting the cowl and now I can build the cooling baffle. After making a paper template I cut the baffle out of 1.5mm balsa sheet. Because thin balsa isn't very strong, I fiber glassed it and painted it black. Because after it is installed inside the cowl it will not be easily seen I did not spent much time on the paint job..Laughing
